I got to my unit, first night they knocked me down out of my bunk at 2 AM and accused me of being a narc , I had no clue I was 18 years old, they said they’re going to throw me out of the window in a wall locker if I didn’t take some pills . They figured a narc would refuse ? I took the pills and went to sleep , I didn’t feel much of anything but I past the test

Was talking to my neighbor Sal and asked him if his tim in Viet Nam was rough. He looked at me and said: you kidding?! They took an 18 year old kid from east LA, perched him on top of an APC and gave him a 50 cal. to play with. No man, that was the best time of my life!
