Don’t make them like they used to. 14 years ago I was in rehab for my injury. Met a 90 year old man who was in WW2 Korea and Vietnam. His hands felt like bricks. Insane stories.

My grandpa served in 1956 to 1964 as a missile designer. He redesigned the chip in the first heat seeking missile to make it work. He passed away last month. Dick Bastedo 1935-2026

I’m a ranch hand, 29 years old and my boss is 86. He can still do more than drop a man. I’ve watched the guy shoulder a grown bull through a gate and back up the rest with head movement. He’s almost a foot shorter than me and I’m six foot. He outweighs me by 20 pounds and I’m 190.
Now ain’t no wet noodle myself, I’ve been in more than the average share of situations.
I would never want to be on the receiving end of a battle with him, even if I had two more of myself. I only wish I could have been half the man he was by my age. That being said, I’d take on whatever fight stood to him if one came, him being old doesn’t mean he couldn’t handle it, it just means he shouldn’t be the one having to.
One of my Best friends is a full blood Seminole, 85 years old, 5.’10” & 200 lb. He is a very humble man & keeps to himself. It would take a BIG man to take him down, I just turned 60 & am blown away by the things this man can do. Oh, he owns a roofing business & still walking roofs as high as 30 stories that I know of.

My grandfather hit the gym every single day up until 96 or so and let me tell you, he was big, he did have a surgery in his mid 90’s and he didn’t work out for a few weeks and he lost nearly all of his muscle and he had to restart from ground 0, he was dedicated though
I had a great grandpa who was very much the same way unfortunately he had dementia and hurt a few family members torwd the end of his life!!! I miss him tremendously 😊

My dad was a tough one like that. He was in the Navy and boxed for his ship in the fleet, the USS Quincy.
When he got out he went to Idaho and was a lumberjack for a couple years.
Long story short is he found my mom and we became a family. But into his 80’s he had a pair of arms that looked like tree limbs.

my grandfather was a holocaust survivor and he had alzheimer’s and one night when I was taking care of him he was screaming in his sleep. I made the mistake of trying to wake him up. This man in his 90s woke up and punched me so hard I was nearly knocked unconscious and fell backwards and he jumped from his bed and started to choke me out. Thankfully my older brother and dad were there to pull him off me. I was in my 20s.
Never underestimate a man because of his age. My grandfather was a killer in his 90s, I could only imagine the things he had to do to survive Dachau.

My uncle showed photos of A mound of dead Japanese soldiers shot while surrendering. They had a bad habit of exploding grenades to kill marines when giving up..

My grandfather is 85 and he’s a big ole Mormon cord fed farmer type who served two tours in Vietnam’s as a B52 pilot and a FAC. His high school past time was playing football against the big ole ex NFL actor dude who played Jonathan Garvey from Little House on the Prairie and then him and his buddies getting into fights outside of school with that dude and his team mates. He still drives like he’s flying a jet or airplane and he wouldn’t hesitate to get out of the car to handle business if he needed to. I sure in hell wouldn’t wanna get in a fight with him or get hit by him and he uses that old boxing stance with the wrist turned upside down. I can remember messing around with him when I was 18 and about 220 lbs and he flipped me on my back like a sack of potatoes. He can remember farming in Utah and seeing the nuclear bombs being tested in Nevada lighting up the morning sky. That generation is just built differently same for the generation before them.
My boxing trainer was an old man like that, he was a Navy boxer back in the day and an old bad ass. His name was Steve Sixx he was great.. I still miss him.
